For women you cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding. For dermal filler it is recommended to not have vaccines within 2 weeks. For lip filler It is recommended to not have had major dental work because you can be more prone to infection. Some tips prior to your appointment for optimal healing and results, we recommend you please come with no face makeup, eat a full meal prior to help with anxiety and lightheadedness. To ensure less bruising and swelling, it is recommended no alcohol, no NSAIDS (Ibuprofen, Aleve, Midol), aspirin, blood thinners, fish oil at least one week prior.
Due to the lips being a sensitive area topical numbing ointment is applied for 30 minutes. Nurse Tammy allows plenty of time during your appointment for you to be numbed. Pain level is around 1-3 on a scale of 1-10.
Everyone metabolizes filler at different rates. Also based on what consistency of filler used would determine the longevity. For instance, if a filler is thicker it takes the body longer to break down opposed to a softer filler. On average, filler can last 6 months to 1 year or longer in some cases.
Typically on average neurotoxin can last 3-5 months based on your metabolism. It gradually wears off during that duration. It is not "frozen" the entire duration. We offer Botox and Dysport. Dysport is stronger than Botox.
No, as with many medical cosmetic treatments, it is not advisable to receive dermal filler or neurotoxin treatments while pregnant. Dermal fillers and neurotoxin have not been tested or verified for safety and efficacy on pregnant patients, so there is no concrete evidence to support the safety of fillers in this group of patients.
Bruising and swelling are the most common side effects for injectable treatments. It will happen to mostly everyone so the answer is probably yes! We try to be as gentle as we can to avoid obvious vessels but we cannot predict ones anatomy every time. We advise to avoid alcohol, blood thinners, aspirin, NSAID’s (Ibuprofen, Aleve. Midol), fish oil a week before treatment. Also suggest taking Arnica and Bromelain orally 1-2 weeks before to help prevent bruising and swelling. Ice first 24 hours. Then apply topical Arnica cream after treatment until bruises subside. Swelling and bruising can last up to 2 weeks.
In most cases, lip filler patients may experience swelling in the lip area after treatment. This is a completely normal side effect of lip injections. Typically swelling lasts 1-3 days but always allow up to 2 weeks for lips to be fully healed. After treatment with Nurse Tammy you are given an ice pack immediately after the procedure. It is recommended to ice for 30 minutes at home. You will receive an after care kit containing arnica to apply during your healing process. If swelling is severe you can take a Benadryl (antihistamine) to reduce swelling. Flying or strenuous exercise within 24 hours can worsen swelling.
It is recommended to book AT LEAST two weeks to a month prior to any major event due to unforeseen bruising, swelling, complication, or need of a touch up.
It is HIGHLY recommended to not bring small children and pets due to this being a medical procedure. Although they may be well behaved it is possible they can be unpredictable with behavior and can be distracting while the treatment is being performed. As far as friends, they may join during your consultation but must just observe and not interrupt the consult. They cannot watch the actual procedure being performed and must wait in the seating area.
We advise you plan accordingly by looking up the drive time the night before. Please leave with ample amount of time to arrive to your appointment. Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your appointment to fill out paperwork and to ensure there is enough time for the procedure. If you are more than 5 minutes late, we will have to reschedule your appointment because that will cause us to be late with our next patient and there is only a certain amount of time booked for your particular procedure. You will also lose your deposit that was made at the time of booking your appointment. These appointments are scheduled with enough time in order to assess your anatomy, explain the procedure, sign consent forms, to conduct a good faith exam performed by our Medical Director, numbing, review pre and post care, perform procedure and time to answer any additional questions you may have. Also, if you are late it will cause a disruption for our other clients as well as Nurse Tammy.
